Predictive is a digital photomedia datafield which is created from visualizations of geomorphological changes during an earthquake, the Parkfield, California M 6.0 quake of September 28, 2004. The work's content is derived from live interactive net based geomorphological visualizations of the quake, in VRML. Predictive is part of the Carrizo Parkfield Diaries, a series of digital prints and films that use net based seismic audio and visual information live online. Predictive develops 'seismic memory' an analogy between the aftereffects and aura human post traumatic stress memory visualizations and geophysical evidence of seismic activity.
This work combines VRML visualizations of the September 2004 Parkfield M 6.0 earthquake, California with abstractions from an installation of transparent digitally printed scrims at Soda Lake, Carrizo Plain, California, winter 2003.
